We, the initiators of the ICD, all experienced Communities in many different ways and asked ourselves what is actually a Community and what is different from other institutions? 

Instead of defining what it could be, we want us all to experience community. We want to learn from individuals who master commoning already and hear from those who are struggling. To make this happen, we will provide a safe (digital) space where people can exchange, connect and grow.

So what? 

Our value-add is to create a first-hand experience of how a global Community can start from scratch with the paradigm of Community.

On October 8th, 2020, in the middle of the global lock-down where people connected more and more digitally, there were lots of community events going on virtually. We thought, is this the International Community Day (ICD) going on? We hadn't done the research, but we thought it was time to start promoting something like this. We gathered some interested people and discussed our motivation to make the ICD happen.
